Traun River, Austria
Few years ago, we were regularly visiting rivers in Austria, mainly Traun River, and mainly in winter. But I have not visited it for last few years, so I very appreciated invitation from my friends Honza and Martin for one-day trip. After higher discharge during Christmas holiday, water level dropped down and conditions looked great. We left home at 5:30 and headed to south. At about 9 we arrived to parking place at river, it was -2°C, and blue sky promised a nice day. Water was very clear and fish were relatively shy, but we finally got about 25 fish between us including few nice rainbows and graylings attacking 50 cm border. I used SAGE Z-AXIS size 5, 0,14 mm fluorocarbon HC and jig nymphs size 14-16. What a nice winter day.
