16 I was asked for two guiding days by two friends of mine from UK coming to our country for one week fishing holiday. They looked for some smaller river with native fish. Conditions were ideal in Malše river, so the choice was easy, it is not necessary to write more, results you can see at pictures, what a nice two afternoons :-) They have visited your country for several times and they are experienced fishermen and they are also familiar with our Czech-French-style of nymphing, so it was funny guiding.  However, fishing was not so easy as water was relatively warm, nothing was hatching and mainly graylings were lazy and it was necessary to persuade them. In rifles was brownie in every deeper suitable pocket,  under every tree was also one or two. My best fish was brown 37 cm. I was fishing with three small nymphs size 16, best were PTN nymphs with gold and coper head and CDC/peacock thorax. Leader 0,10 mm, rod SAGE XP 9ft size 3.

malse I had an appointment in Kaplice town office on Wednesday afternoon, so I had surprisingly fly fishing tackle in the car and I visited Malše river after it. Water was cold and weather was a little ”chilly”, so no activity of insect caused no activity of fish, I caught about 20 browns in size 15-25 cm , one small grayling, one chub, one dace and one brook trout, which probably escaped from hatchery located downstream and which was worth making a picture. Fish are still in deeper pools, I always got about 5 fish  from one place and next I went 30 metres without take. In the best pool I had no take, but I found there otter´s excrements … I fished team of three jig nymphs, Red tag with gold head was the best. It was nice afternoon in nice spring nature, I met no soul.

First river fishing 2012 – Malše river

nice-day Trout season starts in the Czech republic always on 16th April, but nice warm weather in the second half of March beckoned us to the water. We have few non trout sections of river where is possible to fish whole year around. I suggested trip to the non-trout section of Malše river to Tobi and he surprisingly agreed :-) . Hi picked me up with his new SUW after work and we stayed at river at 4:30 p.m. Water was clear and relatively low, 18°C and cloudy sky looked great.  Above the river fluttered olives and some midges and we heard rising fish from time to time. We jumped to the river with nymphs very quickly and my first fish was small chub in backwater under the rocky bank, Tobi also got first fish immediately. I have to say, that it was visible, that Tobi had have more practice, mainly in the first hour he got twice more fish than me. But after this first hour I recalled all instincts and result was more equal. We caught about 50 fish altogether including one grayling and 5 browns, rest was chub and dice. I tested new reel and French leader from Franta Hanák and it worked great. What a nice three hours :-)
